On July 30, 2025, in Serdang Bedagai, emotions ran high as Aslina shared her transformation story at the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Cempedak Lobang, Sei Rampah. She expressed her gratitude to the life-changing Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program for the positive impact it had on her daily life. Alongside regional leaders like Hasan Nasbi and North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, Aslina tearfully thanked the President for the program that has brought new hope to her and others in her community.
Aslina, who was once a full-time homemaker without any income, now plays a crucial role in preparing healthy meals for school children, thanks to the MBG program. This opportunity has not only provided her with a sense of purpose but has also enabled her to contribute financially to her family. Normawati, another participant, also shared how the program has helped her support her family, especially her school-going children who benefit from the nutritious meals.
The impact of the program goes beyond just housewives. Shinta Ramadana, a 21-year-old who was previously unemployed, now works enthusiastically in food preparation, showcasing the empowerment and transformation facilitated by the MBG Program. These inspiring stories of empowerment and renewed hope are echoed by many individuals nationwide who have found employment and a new lease on life through this initiative by the National Nutrition Agency.
More than just providing nutritious meals, the MBG Program has become a symbol of empowerment and transformation. It has transformed kitchens into spaces of hope, where individuals like Aslina, Normawati, and Shinta have discovered opportunities for meaningful work and personal growth. This initiative not only addresses the nutritional needs of school children but also creates a ripple effect of positive change within communities.
