French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia to strengthen the partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized the significance of the friendship as a strong and practical collaboration rather than just a symbol. President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, showcasing the warm reception for the French leader.
Macron highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia in various fields such as the economy, technology, security, and culture. With 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, significant progress has been made in the past decade. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s crucial role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and noted the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition agenda.
Cultural collaboration was also a focal point during Macron’s visit, culminating in the signing of a cultural agreement at the Borobudur Temple complex symbolic of the growing friendship between Indonesia and France. Macron expressed gratitude to President Prabowo for the warm reception and conveyed optimism for continued joint efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
