Growing up without a father did not deter Andra Farizki Ramdhani from striving to succeed. Raised by his hardworking single mother, Andra, a 10th-grade student at People’s High School (SRMA 10) in South Jakarta, found a new sense of hope through the People’s School initiative introduced by President Prabowo Subianto.
Despite facing financial difficulties, Andra expressed his gratitude towards the People’s School for providing him with the opportunity to receive a proper education. He emphasized how the initiative has sparked enthusiasm for learning among students who may not have had access to education otherwise.
Transitioning to dorm life at the People’s School presented both challenges and rewards for Andra. While he misses his family, he finds solace in the camaraderie of his peers and the lively atmosphere at the boarding school.
Andra’s daily routine at SRMA 10 is structured with activities such as morning prayers, exercise, and classes, followed by evening calls to his mother. Despite the monotony, Andra draws strength from his friendships with classmates, which have blossomed into a strong bond akin to family.
The facilities at SRMA 10 exceeded Andra’s expectations, providing a conducive learning environment with attentive teachers and comprehensive study resources. Engaging in extracurricular activities like judo and joining various student clubs has enriched his experience at the school.
Despite the absence of his father, Andra remains determined to achieve his dreams of becoming a judo athlete and pursuing higher education at the Defense University (Unhan). His aspirations are fueled by his love and admiration for his mother, who has always supported him through thick and thin.
Andra is thankful for the financial support provided by the People’s School, offering underprivileged children like himself the opportunity to pursue education without the burden of additional costs. He views the People’s School as a beacon of hope for those who are eager to learn and grow.
From the classroom to the sports field and the dormitory, Andra’s experiences at the People’s School have not only broadened his knowledge but also fostered his independence and determination to succeed. With unwavering support from his mother and the opportunities presented by the People’s School, Andra believes that his dreams are now within reach.
