President Prabowo Subianto issued a strong warning to rice milling businesses in Klaten, Central Java, regarding manipulative pricing practices that harm farmers and the public. He emphasized the government’s commitment to taking over “rogue” rice mills and transferring them to Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperatives. This stance is based on Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, which focuses on Indonesia’s national economy and the welfare of its people. President Prabowo highlighted the importance of controlling sectors vital to the country and people’s livelihood, such as rice milling. He mentioned that some rice millers were making substantial profits during the harvest season, prompting regulatory action to stabilize farmers’ terms of trade. However, a new challenge arose with fake premium rice blends being sold in the market. Consequently, President Prabowo has instructed the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police to investigate this criminal offense. He expressed concern over the annual losses incurred by Indonesian people due to fraudulent practices by a few business groups. President Prabowo characterized these actions as betrayals of the nation and called for stringent legal measures to address the issue. He reiterated his commitment to upholding the Constitution and enforcing the law to combat such practices effectively.
