European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a new visa policy that will benefit Indonesian citizens by making it easier for them to enter the European Union. This policy allows Indonesians making their second visit to the EU to be eligible for a multi-entry Schengen visa. The announcement was made during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Brussels, emphasizing the importance of deepening ties between the people of Indonesia and the EU. Von der Leyen highlighted that this visa policy aims to strengthen connections in various areas such as education, investment, and social exchange, not just for travel purposes. The new policy is part of the people-to-people connections pillar in the EU–Indonesia strategic partnership, symbolizing the building of bridges between the two nations. President Prabowo welcomed this development and emphasized the significance of fostering long-term relationships based on trust and shared values. He expressed hope for the finalization and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels, signaling a new chapter in the bilateral relations between Indonesia and the European Union characterized by openness, cooperation, and mutual benefits for their citizens.
