President Prabowo Subianto has been a staunch advocate for the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG) in Indonesia long before his victory in the 2024 presidential election. His dedication to this cause dates back to 2006, as mentioned by his younger brother, Hashim Djojohadikusumo. The importance of providing free nutritious meals for Indonesian children was reiterated during an event in South Jakarta on 7 January, commemorating International Disability Day. Even during the 2014 election campaign, Prabowo remained committed to this cause. He firmly believes in ensuring that Indonesian children have access to proper nutrition and education, envisioning a bright future for the country through these initiatives. Upon assuming office as the 8th President of Indonesia in October 2024, Prabowo officially launched the MBG programme on 6th January 2025, extending its reach to all 31 provinces across the country. This program is a testament to Prabowo’s unwavering dedication to providing essential nutrition for the next generation of Indonesians, ultimately contributing to the nation’s development and global standing.
