Bantuan Warga Global dalam Terjemahan Perpres Stranas Bisnis-HAM oleh Kemenkumham

Direktorat General of Human Rights of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) is preparing the translation of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 60 of 2023 concerning the National Business and Human Rights Strategy (Stranas BHAM) into English to help the global community understand the potential for business-human rights cooperation with Indonesia.

Director General of Human Rights Kemenkumham Dhahana Putra, when opening a group forum discussion in Jakarta on Monday, said the translation of the Perpres was done in order to introduce efforts to mainstream business and human rights in Indonesia to the international community.

“It is important for all of us to pay attention to the global community’s appreciation, which is by officially translating the national document Perpres 60/2023 into English,” Dhahana said in the event, as quoted from the official statement.

According to him, translating the document Perpres 60/2023 is necessary because it will help enhance the potential for cooperation related to Indonesian business and human rights with foreign partners.

In order to expedite the translation process, the Directorate General of Human Rights Kemenkumham, together with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Indonesia (FNF Indonesia), held a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) at a hotel in Jakarta on May 13-14, 2024.

In addition to opening the discussion, Dhahana also provided guidance to the attending development teams.

During the two-day discussion, the Director of Human Rights Cooperation and the Director of Legislation, Translation, Publication, and Legal Information Systems were also present.

Previously, Kemenkumham had also established national and regional task forces to anticipate human rights violations received by communities in the business environment.

The establishment of this task force is a follow-up to the Stranas BHAM Perpres signed by President Joko Widodo on September 26, 2023, as a government commitment to realize a human rights-friendly business ecosystem.

“According to this Perpres, a national task force and regional task forces are formed. The national task force is chaired by the Minister of Law and Human Rights and then its members are relevant ministries and institutions,” said the Director of Human Rights Cooperation at the Directorate General of Human Rights Kemenkumham Harniati in a discussion entitled “Protect Workers’ Human Rights” which was broadcast online on Monday (29/4).

The national task force will have its own agenda for enforcement in the business environment. This agenda will be in line with the agencies or ministries collaborating with Kemenkumham.

As for the regional task forces, they will be chaired by each governor in each province. The work programs carried out at the national level will be aligned with the task forces at the regional level.
